Promotion of the Cause
A symposium was held on November 27, 2017, at the Angelicum University in Rome, on the occasion of the reissue of The Gospel of Jesus Christ by Father Marie-Joseph LAGRANGE. It featured lectures on Father Lagrange’s life, the strength of his exegesis, his legacy today at the ÉBAF, and his spiritual journey, accompanied by various documents and photographs.
Another symposium was held on March 17–18, 2020, in Bologna, under the theme: The Biblical Exegesis of the Servant of God Marie-Joseph LAGRANGE, O.P.: A Theological Reading.
Prayer for the Cause
Holy Father, you placed in your servant, Brother Marie-Joseph Lagrange,
a deep desire for truth and a passionate love for your Word.
In the light of the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms,
he searched the mystery of Jesus Christ, and his heart burned within him.
With the Virgin Mary, he meditated on the Gospel in the prayer of the Rosary.
He dedicated his life to the scientific study of the Bible,
in the evangelical harmony of faith and reason,
to bring salvation to souls troubled by scientific criticism.
Those who knew him testified to his radiant faith
and his exemplary obedience in times of trial.
We pray to you, Father, to hasten the day
when the Church will publicly recognize the holiness of his life,
so that his inspiring example may lead others
to believe in the Word of God.
Through the intercession of Brother Marie-Joseph Lagrange,
grant us the graces we need, especially: (state your intention).
We ask this of you, Father, through your Son Jesus Christ,
in the communion of the Holy Spirit,
one God, living and reigning forever and ever. Amen.
