As part of the Thursday lectures, friar Olivier-Thomas VENARD, o.p., director of The Bible In Its Traditions research programme at the ÉBAF, brought together people to discuss a key question:
Did Moses have horns?
Indeed, the entire history of Western art since the twelfth century, following the Latin version of the Scriptures, has endowed Moses with horned appendages! They do, however, raise a fascinating biblical question. If we delve deeper, we will confirm once again that the written trace of the Word of God is a polyphonic score, in which all the voices must be heard, and that in particular the Latin voice of the brilliant Saint Jerome deserves the renewed interest shown in it by exegetes, particularly at the ÉBAF.
