RESUMPTION OF SATURDAY VISITS

The deconfinement of the population in Israel has allowed the resumption of certain activities.

Although we are still forced to do all the teaching online, as the students have not yet received their visas, we were able to resume Saturday visits, which are very popular with diplomats and NGO staff in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Very busy with their activities during the week, these friends of the School appreciate discovering the sites with the help of an expert.

Thus, on Saturday, October 24, Br. Dominique-Marie Cabaret, in charge of the courses in topography and history of the ancient Near East at the School, was able to take a good twenty people to the Judean desert monastery of Mar Saba and to Bethlehem to visit the Basilica of the Nativity, where the frescoes have regained all their brilliance since the end of the restorations.

The absence of pilgrims and tourists also makes particularly attractive the visit of these beautiful places without the usual crowds.

The School intends to continue these Saturday visits every two weeks, taking into account, of course, the safety instructions which are regularly given to us.
