On Saturday 16 November 2024, around twenty participants set off from the Old to the New Testament, first at the monastery of Kiryat Yearim, before heading to the site of Emmaus-Nicopolis.
Accompanied by Br. Martin STASZAK, o.p., the biblical historians discovered where, according to the First Book of Samuel and the First Book of Chronicles, King David stored the Ark of the Covenant.

Once they had discovered this first site, the group moved on to Emmaus-Nicopolis to explore the site mentioned in the writings of the evangelist Saint Luke. This was a good opportunity to recall the involvement of the École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem, which began excavations at Emmaus in 1924, one hundred years ago, a holy place belonging to the Bethlehem Carmelite monastery and managed by the Community of the Beatitudes. The Dominican friars Louis-Huges VINCENT and Félix-Marie ABEL put a great deal of effort into studying the site, and their work was published in the Revue Biblique of 1926 and in the book Emmaüs. Sa basilique et son histoire, published by Leroux in 1932.
